Friends, I’m so excited to update you all + announce that my gap year with the World Race is STILL HAPPENING! With that being said, a couple changes have been made that will mean this year will look a little differently than expected.

Ahhh, changes. They’re not always our favorite (unless we’re talking about JB’s album hah). But folks, let me tell ya, I’M SO EXCITED FOR THESE CHANGES!

A while ago, Adventures in Missions (AIM) proposed a backup plan, a modified gap year. Now, that backup plan has solidified and become the new plan because of the way that the coronavirus has affected travel. Because travel bans aren’t likely to be lifted by september, the new plan is to launch January 2nd.

So, what are we doing in that 3 month period before we launch?

We will be staying at the AIM base in Georgia for an extended training period! This will involve missional training, discipleship, and leadership development. After this, we will still get to travel for 6 months (WOOT WOOT)!! We will most likely get to go to the same amount of countries as planned before, although the exact countries are still up in the air. While this wasn’t what we were expecting at all, my squadmates and I are super excited for this time and all that has been planned! Something like this has never been done before in the history of AIM, so it’s such a cool opportunity and privilege that we get this time!

Because of the change of plans, AIM gave racers a couple options. One of these options was to opt out of the race altogether, or defer until the next year. Another was to skip the extended training and participate in just a 6 month long trip. After lots of prayer, the Lord made it clear to me that being a part of the extended training is the right thing for me, so that’s what I’m going to do! He called me to this gap year with full knowledge of what it would look like, and I’m going to trust that He knows best (because He does!).

MOVING FORWARD>>>Will changes be made to the amount of financial support needed?

The short answer: no. The long answer: Living in Georgia is more expensive than living in one of the countries we were previously planning on being in for the months of September to January. So, the amount of support I need will remain the same, which is $15,800. So far, the Lord has provided $11, 289, which means ONLY 4.5K LEFT UNTIL I AM FULLY SUPPORTED! PRAISE THE LORD!

As I’m moving forward with fundraising, any amount you feel led to give would be SO appreciated! You can give by clicking donate in the box above, or if you’re interested in mailing a check you can email me @[email protected] for more info. I’m believing the Lord to be fully supported by the time I go to Georgia (September)! If you cannot give at this time, I would love your prayers!

With so many things being cancelled, I’m grateful that we are moving forward with this gap year in whatever capacity that may look like. Also thankful for a God stays the same and remains faithful amidst uncertainty and change. HE IS SO GOOD!

Thanks so much for stopping by to read this lil update. God bless & stay safe! Love you all!

Emma
